"KING"
Welcome to our blog! Welcome to our East Tennessee farm! The Majestic Great Pyrenees are massive, white, fiercely protective, and yet incredibly gentle Live Stock Guardian Dogs. We love this breed for it's loyalty, love, and grace. They can be used as workers or family pets. They are as serious about playing as they are about working. We use our dogs for both. "Hansen's Hilltop Guardian King", our stud is excellent at protecting his flock of children, goats(kids), pasture pigs, and chickens. Animals and children of all sizes are safe with him. He stands 31" at the shoulder. "King" has badger spots. Our females, "Memphis" and "Priscilla" are solid white. All are AKC registered. The Great Pyrenees' devotion to his human family is incomparable. We are grateful for and respect this amazing animal. We are pleased to offer our puppies to You!
Our Baby Sitter! Sometimes when the goats go out to feed, their young kids will stay behind with "King." The gentle giant shows his tenderness. Soon after a kid is born, "King" stays close to the baby to make sure it is fine.
We had a nanny that didn't care for her kid, so "King" licked him clean and keep him warm until we could take the kid into our care. That bottle-fed kid (located in the top right hand photo) was sold to a family who has many children to be a pet.
Young farm animals are not the only ones who love "King". He loves children and they him. Here are photos of Alice. This little girl does not have a pet and never had spent time on a farm. Soon after she arived and was introduced, she and "King" became the best of friends.
Gentle, yes, but all 3 of our Great Pyrenees are intensly protective. Not only do they defend against animal and human intruders, but "Priscilla", our youngest female watches the sky and alerts us and the other dogs of any hawks or buzzards. She is developing into a wonderful guardian and protector.
